In Alameda, in addition to electing a Mayor and City Councilmembers, voters also elect a City Auditor and Treasurer. The Auditor is responsible for at least an annual audit of the City's financial operations, books and records to assure that the City's financial transactions, accounts and records are maintained in accordance with the requirements of the City Charter, state and federal laws and generally accepted accounting principles.
The Treasurer recommends to Council an investment policy for City monies and monitors and reports results of the City investment portfolio.
