Facade Assistance Program

Since 1987, the City has worked with business owners and operators to upgrade storefronts to enhance the attractiveness and economic vitality of Alameda's commercial centers.  The Program is managed by the Economic Development Division.  A committee, consisting of the executive directors of the Park Street and West Alameda Business Associations, a representative from the Greater Alameda Business Association, a City Planning Division representative, and one design professional, reviews applications for funding.  The Committee can approve, disapprove, or approve with modifications the funding request.

Eligibility
Both owners and tenants can apply to the program but the property must be located within either the Park Street or West Alameda Business Districts or any of the historic train stations.

Grant Levels
Two levels of funding are available:

Applications are available here, from the City's Economic Development Division in Room 120 or upon email request to econdev@ci.alameda.ca.us.
