The Traffic Operations program conducts traffic studies to respond to requests from the City Council and community regarding traffic control changes, including stop signs, signals, parking, and other regulatory traffic control devices.
The Transportation Planning and Engineering program provides transportation planning and engineering services consistent with the multi-modal goals of the Transportation Element. The program is also responsible for participating in regional transportation planning activities; coordinating the Safe Routes to School (SR2S) programs; participating in the Alameda County Congestion Management Authority Technical Advisory Committee; and maintaining traffic signal timing.
Traffic Calming
On May 20, 2010, Public Works Department staff held a public meeting with residents of the Gibbons Drive area to discuss a number of design options for traffic calming that could potentially be applied in the area. Click to view the design options that were presented, as well as counts of motor vehicles, bicyclists, and pedestrians in the area. If you have any questions about this project, contact Alan Ta at (510) 749-5921. The third public meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2012.
