Typing Certificates

Most clerical positions require verification of the applicant’s typing ability. A valid typing certificate must be submitted with each application and indicate the applicant’s ability to type the minimum speed.

A valid typing certificate MUST be issued by an educational institution, public agency, or professional service which routinely provides typing verification documentation in their normal course of business and INCLUDE:

  1. Name of the applicant
  2. Date the test was administered (must be within one year prior to the application deadline)
  3. Duration of the test (5 minutes minimum)
  4. Net/gross words per minute
  5. Number of errors
  6. Name and telephone number of the organization/agency that administered the test.

Self-administered, online typing certificates are not accepted and will not be considered valid. The Human Resources Department will not search the files to locate previously submitted typing certificates.
