OverDrive provides library patrons remote access to a large collection of premium audiobooks, e-books, and music from their website. It supports downloads to personal computers, Ipod(R), iPhone(R), iPad(TM), Android(TM), Sony(R)Reader, Blackberry(R), and numerous other mobile devices. Amazon and OverDrive have also reached agreement that OverDrive may be used with Kindle Books later this year.
OverDrive Training
Every Monday from January 9 - February 27*, the Alameda Free Library will provide one-on-one OverDrive assistance for patrons using OverDrive for their mobile devices, eReaders, and Tablets. Drop in on Mondays at any time between 3pm-6pm.

LibrivoxProvides free audiobooks from the public domain. LibriVox volunteers record chapters of books in the public domain, and then releases the audio files back onto the net (podcast and catalog). The objective is to make all books in the public domain available, for free, in audio format on the internet. Librivox is a totally volunteer, open source, free content, public domain project.
Thousands of titles of works in the public domain (out of copyright) in both eBook and eAudiobook formats are available at this site.
Scholastic Bookflix is a new online literacy resource that pairs classic video storybooks from Weston Woods with related nonfiction eBooks from Scholastic to build a love of reading and learning. The engaging way to link fact and fiction, Bookflix reinforces early reading skills and introduces children to a world of knowledge and exploration.
