2011-12 School Year Parks and Playground Program

2011-12 SCHOOL YEAR PARKS AND PLAYGROUND PROGRAM

A free drop-in program for all school-age children of Alameda is available after school starting Monday, August 29, 2011 to Friday, June 15, 2012 at six park sites throughout Alameda (see below). Each site will open from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. In addition, Franklin, Lincoln and Washington Parks will be open for general supervision and play on Saturdays from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m.

Recreation Leaders will provide a variety of recreational activities for children currently in Kindergarten to 5th Grades. These programs are a perfect opportunity for your child to participate in fun, safe and cooperative activities where your child can be creative, develop skills and make friends in an outdoor setting. Activities will include but are not limited to: arts and crafts, cooking, drama, games, nature and special events (a nominal fee may be charged). This program is free and there is no obligation to attend every day. This is not a childcare service! Parents may leave their child alone at the park at their own risk.

THIS IS NOT A DAY CARE PROGRAM. Youth are free to come to the park and actively participate in the daily programs. Recreation Leaders are not responsible to watch your child specifically, but are required to promote an environment where youth can play, explore, make new friends and above all, have fun! For a more structured program, see our Recreation Afterschool Program (RAP).

NO PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED. For the safety of the youth participants, parents/guardians should fill out an emergency contact form to be held on file in case of an emergency. See your Recreation Leader for more information.
