GENERAL INFORMATION
The Swim Centers are operated and maintained jointly by both the Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) and the City of Alameda through the Recreation and Park Department (ARPD). ARPD is responsible for monitoring the chemical balances of the water and for routine custodial care of the dressing rooms. AUSD is responsible for any capital improvements, as well as repairs to the heater, the filtration system, and any plumbing or electrical issues.
ARPD's duties are carried out through a combination of outside contractors supplemented by City staff. Between the two options, service is provided seven days a week, however, please note that staff is not available on weekends or after hours. We will do our best to ensure a clean safe pool environment, but please be aware of the extremely high volume of use that these sites get from AUSD, the community, and City programs.
In order to get the Swim Centers back online after last fall's closures, the City has invested over $80,000 in improvements and upgrades. Included among these were increased custodial services, new pool covers, new rollers, and improvements to the heaters and filters.
